#036: Are Your Words Holding You Back?

Written by Lynn Swayze

Every day, I hear people claiming limiting beliefs as if they are reality.

Every day, I hear people claiming limiting beliefs as if they are reality.

“My audience won’t like this…”

“Making money is hard…”

“My life is always so chaotic…”

“People always take advantage of me…”

What you say, matters. What you believe, matters.

If YOU don’t believe another reality is possible, why do you have the chutzpah to believe the Universe (or at the very least, the people around you) will give you something different?

A Mindset Exercise to Try: The “I Allow” Statement

The sad part about being INSIDE such a limiting belief frame, is that even if I pointed such limiting beliefs out, it wouldn’t matter. You might not even recognize them when I point them out… and absent a proper mindset shift (through hypnosis/self-hypnosis, NLP, etc), you’d justify them to the ends of the earth as being absolutely true and necessary for your safety and success.

(Hint: these beliefs helped you when you were a kid, but are absolutely detrimental to you as an adult. But the more you resist them, the more entrenched they become. You have to THANK that part of you that helped keep you safe… and thank the utility of this belief… but then let it go to adopt new adult beliefs. That’s the secret, in a nutshell.)

Anyway….the first step is knowing that these are present, and that you CAN change what you see in the world around you. It all starts with what you believe to be true and how much you’re willing to RELEASE.

Here’s a quick exercise for you:

TODAY, reframe how you talk to yourself about your beliefs. Instead of negative statements of what you lack or don’t want, try:

  • I allow what I do for a living to be effortlessly easy, enjoyable, and rewarding.
  • I allow myself to be surrounded by, and loved by, people who only have my best interests at heart.
  • I allow life to be easy and for things to always fall into my lap in unexpected ways.
  • I allow my marketing to always work to generate incredible results, even when it “shouldn’t.”

What beliefs could YOU adopt? Play around with the “I allow…” statement and see how it shifts things today. Try it and see. Prove me wrong.
